Mac OS X Lion Review

REVIEW OF Mac OS X Lion:An upgrade worth the price

During the Worldwide Developers Conference when Apple showcased their Mac OS X Lion,it was clear from their keynote speech that the company paid sincere attention to their success of their flagship iOS devices, and now has started to include successful iOS features in its key flagship OS.

And since Apple’s laptop and tablets sales are outpacing the desktops,Apple has shifted from being a desktop company to mobile computing. With the rising popularity of Apple’s iPhone,iPod,iPad and other mobile computing devices,Apple is more interested in the mobile computing business. The release of Mac OS X Lion reflects their success in the mobile computing category.
Apple has added more than 250 features among which they have made some major interface changes.

Some key features of the Mac OS X Lion are:

Multitouch gestures:Allowing users to navigate through the window without using a traditional mouse.

Full-screen apps:It ables you to switch the core MAC apps to a full screen view by a diagonal arrow placed in the top right of the application window.

Mission Control:The Mission Control function in the Lion OS displays all the current apps and windows you are working on in a single screen making it easier for the user to scroll around the necessary apps.

Safari:This function helps user to swipe change the last visited web-page by just swiping the page rather than hitting the web browser to re-load the last page.It feels more elegant.

Launchpad:The launchpad icon lets user to drag and re arrange apps of their choice and make a new folder. Its though not the best way to navigate apps but its useful for users who have experienced Apple only through iPhone.

AirDrop:This is though a very simple feature but a very useful one for professionals. It helps you to send e-mail or document to your co-workers or clients who are working on the same network by simply clicking the AirDrop option in the left navigation field of a Finder menu,a graphical representation of all the users around on your local Wi-Fi netwrok. Now you just have to select the file and then drag-and-drop on top of the users icon to send it instantly.

Conclusions

MAC OS X Lion lion has 250 new features, small and big making it more and more user friendly. The key focus on multigesture has indicated Apple’s major focus on its much popular notebook line. But still it has succeeded in making many useful changes which will be appreciated.
